This program is designed for international volunteers who wish to make a difference in vulnerable communities in Costa Rica. We collaborate with various clinics and health centers in San Ramón, Palmares, and Naranjo, in the province of Alajuela. Our mission is to provide healthcare, physical, and emotional support, improving access to health and wellbeing services for those facing economic and social barriers.
The project takes place in San Ramón, Alajuela, a vibrant location with a strong commitment to animal health and welfare. Our veterinary clinic, Veterinaria El Tremedal, is dedicated to the comprehensive care of pets and farm animals, ensuring responsible resource management. By participating, you will provide direct support in diagnostics and treatments, enhance your skills through the care of hospitalized patients, and advise clients on optimal animal care practices. This program reinforces SDGs 15, 12, and 3, promoting ecosystem well-being and the human-animal relationship.

Tareas realizadas por los voluntarios
- Assist medical staff in consultations, emergencies, and daily care.
- Support physiotherapy and physical rehabilitation efforts.
- Participate in home visits to provide medical or support services to patients.
- Organize and conduct prevention workshops and health talks.
- Provide administrative and logistical support, including managing records and supplies.
- Assist in diagnostics and treatments by supporting veterinarians during check-ups and consultations.
- Monitor hospitalized patients under professional supervision.
- Provide advice to clients on animal nutrition, hygiene, and products.
Jornada típica
8:00 - 9:00: Initial meeting with veterinarians to plan the day.
9:00 - 11:00: Assist in routine check-ups and consultations.
11:00 - 12:00: Monitor hospitalized patients.
12:00 - 13:00: Lunch break.
13:00 - 15:00: Advise clients and follow up on special cases.
