Do you dream of sharing your language skills while discovering the heart of Costa Rican culture? Join Pura Vida Interculturas as a volunteer English teacher and support local schools, learning centers, and families in rural communities.
This program is developed in close alignment with the goals of the Ministerio de Educación Pública (MEP), which emphasizes English education as a key to expanding future opportunities for Costa Rican youth. Many schools and community centers lack sufficient English teachers, especially in underserved areas — and that’s where you come in.
As a volunteer, you’ll:
- Assist local teachers in English classes at public schools or after-school programs
- Lead conversation workshops or tutoring sessions for children and teens
- Develop simple educational materials adapted to local needs
- Help foster confidence and cultural curiosity through fun, interactive learning
- Whether you have teaching experience or just a passion for language and intercultural exchange, your presence can make a lasting difference.
We’ll match you with a school, family or learning center that fits your skills and goals. Volunteers live with local host families and are supported throughout their mission. Spanish is not required but helpful — and you’ll have plenty of chances to learn!

7am : breakfast with host family
8:30am : meet with project staff to oversee daily tasks
1pm: lunch time
4pm: Project work time ends
7 pm: Dinner with host family
